  • Janette:

I have tried to register for the Make Miracles in Forty Days forum, but when I try to login, it says my username and password don’t work, but then when I tried to re-register, your site said I was registered. Im not sure what I used for a user name or password.
I have read Making Miracles in Forty Days and actually have been writing for over 40 days! I have not received my miracle yet, but I am not giving up!

    • Hi Janette. Did you 1) click on the validation email either in your junk mail or in your email inbox, and send it back to the site? And also when you registered, did you click on the “I agree to the Terms of Service” box what down on the left side at the end? It’s easy to forget either. If you did that, just post it and I’ll go in, take out your initial registration, and reregister for you — but you’ll still have to watch for the validation email in your junk mail or inbox. Okay? But first, look for that email. But if you didn’t check the “agree to Terms of Service” box, then we’ll probably need to start all over from scratch. No big deal. We’ll get it fixed.

Re your miracles, have you noticed any changes? Are you writing down all those emotions you don’t want to share — even with yourself, and practicing gratitude for everything in your life (that’s to get you to acceptance and surrender so you can connect with your power). Once you get on the site, read about some other people’s experiences. I usually do at least two run through’s of the 40 days — and also, I don’t always get the miracle I want (or I get one I wasn’t aware that I wanted) — it’s like what I really wanted, but didn’t know. Also, did you make a goal list and miracle list before you began, and then put it away and let it go? The most important part though is surrendering to and being grateful for 1) yourself; 2) however you feel; and 3) whatever is going on in your life — and your true feelings about it as is? You never have to feel grateful for a tragedy, but you can express gratitude for how awful you feel about it. This exercise isn’t intended to trivialize people’s pain; it’s to combine the best of both the recovery and the spiritual principles. Plus I know it works.

For now though, let’s get you in the site. Support can be a huge help with this, as can reading about other people’s experience with the exercise.

  • Fay Wong:

I just went through the registration process, but when I try to log in, a window comes up that says that the user name is in error. I tried re-registering, but then the window says that the user name and email is already registered. What do I need to do?

    • Okay, did you click the small box at the end of registration where you agree to the TOS (Terms of Service)? If you didn’t, but clicked the “submit” button, then your name would be registered, but not properly. How about this. Let’s wait for a couple hours, until I hear from the other person, then I’ll go in, remove the original registrations, register both of you, click on the accept terms of service. But it will be your job to watch for the validation email in your junk mail or regular inbox, and click on that link. (I’ll send you an email telling you what your id name and password is.) Then, after you’re in, you can change your password. We’ll get you in, either tonight or tomorrow. I think I need to put the “Accepting Terms of Service” in bigger print. But also, if that’s not the problem, please let me know.

  • Tara:

I am now on day fourteen of the making miracles gratitude list exercise. I am doing this on my own and trust that when I am meant to partner with someone, they will be made known to me. I have come from a long line of family that has dealt with suicide (my brother at 22), depression, alcoholism, and mental illness. Not to mention growing up with a major control freak who never allowed me to do anything without her approval. She ended up having a nervous breakdown and found therapy herself. All this has taught me that life sucks sometimes and we can’t take it personally. I used to believe that I wasn’t good enough, to exist. I still have the old tapes rolling in my head. I down loaded “Making Miracles……” and have now listened to it entirely, three times now while I commute to work everyday. The greatest blessing I have received so far, is that I am okay as me, as I am right now. It does not matter how much money I make, or how much I weigh. I deserve to exist, because I was born by the grace of God. I must admit that I am having a hard time letting myself feel bad. For so long I was taught, snap out of it, what’s wrong with you. Get over your feelings. For the first time in my life, I am sitting with them and it feels very different……..I will keep you posted!!!! (By the way, I have read most of your books) Thank you for sharing your experience, strength, and hope.

    • Thanks for writing in. I wanted to say that the first time I “discovered” this exercise, I did it by myself. It was a rough and unpolished version of it too — one that walked me through a lot of emotions until I received both benefits of it: acceptance and the miracle I wanted. My first reaction to emotions? “I shouldn’t be having them.” The exercise is still something I regularly do to keep in emotional balance and stop myself from burying the truth. Keep in touch and let me know how you’re doing. There’s a lot of good support and help on this forum. Melody Beattie

  • GG:

Melody – Please can you help me with the posts/account? WordPress not working as per email. Thank you

    • I don’t know if you received and read my two messages to you — but I asked you to please reply in detail: 1) the exact steps you do; and 2) what does or doesn’t happen. And 2) are you using a PC or MAC?

    • GG — Did you send in the validation email after registering? I will go in the backroom, find your name, erase it, and then register for you — giving you an online identity (which cannot be changed) and a temporary password (which can be changed). I’ll send you an email telling you what your id and temp pw are. BUT — NOW LISTEN CAREFULLY — You will receive an email but it may go to your junkmail. Check both boxes. Open the email, and click on the “validation” link. That should get your registered. However, I’ve got three people I’m going it for — and I want to do all three at once. I’m waiting to hear from the other two — but I will do it tonight. TO EVERYONE WHO SAID THEY WERE HAVING PROBLEMS REGISTERING — WE TOOK SOME STEPS TO GET RID OF THE SPAMMERS AND DON’T THINK IT SHOULD HAVE AFFECTED REGISTRATION, BUT MAYBE IT DID. THAT’S NOW BEING CHECK. MEANWHILE, I WILL REGISTER FOR YOU, SEND YOU AN EMAIL, BUT YOU ALSO HAVE TO WATCH FOR AN EMAIL FROM THE SITE CONTAINING A VALIDATION LINK. SEND THAT EMAIL IN FIRST, OR CLICK ON THE LINK IN THE EMAIL FIRST (THAT KEEPS SPAMMERS AWAY — IS WHY WE DO IT — A BOT CAN’T CLICK ON A LINK; ONLY A PERSON CAN.).

SO, IF YOU’VE BEEN HAVING TROUBLE REGISTERED AND POSTED HERE ABOUT IT, WATCH YOUR INBOXES FOR TWO EMAILS — ONE FROM ME, TELLING YOU WHAT YOUR ID AND TEMPORARY PASSWORD ARE (BUT WAIT ON THAT) AND ANOTHER FROM THE SITE ASKING THAT YOU VALIDATE YOUR REGISTRATION BY CLICKING ON THE LINK IN THAT EMAIL. DO THAT — BUT FIRST MOVE THE EMAIL TO YOUR INBOX OR IT WON’T WORK. THEN, AFTER YOU’VE BEEN VALIDATED, USE THE USER NAME AND PASSWORD I SET UP FOR YOU TO GET INTO THE SITE. AT THAT POINT, YOU CAN CREATE A NEW PASSWORD. ANY OTHERS HAVING PROBLEMS, LET ME KNOW. AGAIN, MAYBE SOMETHING GOT MESSED UP WHEN WE CHASED OUT THE LAST GROUP OF SPAMMERS. I’M NOT YELLING WITH ALL CAPS — JUST TRYING TO GET THE ATTENTION OF EVERYONE ON THIS SITE SO WE CAN SOLVE THE PROBLEM AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Melody Beattie and Chip

  • Hi. If any “ads” appear with name “author” on them, it’s a phisherman (or woman) who snuck in our doors. Please, let me know and I’ll tighten security and send them on their ways. Thanks, Melody PS — I always sign my emails mb, Melody Beattie, or Melody — not “author” as the phiser did who I just put in the “dump.” Again, please let me know if any got in.

I am almost done reading the book, and I am excited to get started on the excercise. But I do have some questions.

  • Corinne Cap:

    Hi!

I wish to register, but have a problem with my e mail adress. When I apply for registration , there is a message telling me that this e mail has been taken already. It is the only e mail adress I have and don’t want to change it or add another one, if possible. I doubt there is any other person with the same one on your forum. I never had this kind of problem in any other transaction before. Could you help me solve this problem, I would be thankful to be able to join.
PS: I joined yesterday the Melody’s grieving club with the same email adress as a reference; could that be an explanation?
Thank you and best greeting from far away
    Corinne

I have tried to register for the Make Miracles in Forty Days forum, but when I try to login, it says my username and password don’t work, but then when I tried to re-register, your site said I was registered. Then when I tried to ask for a new password, I could not get the link to work. I would love to hear if I’m registered. My username is jrwestphal, my password is 2455aolmaggie. I am looking forward to your help with this. Thank you! And thank you to Melody for coming into my life at just the perfect time….

    • Did you get your issue resolved? I just found a slew of comments and replies sent to the wrong folder and I don’t know if they’ve been posted yet or not. Can someone let me know? Thanks so much. Melody

    • I saw you registered in the back room. Did you respond to the email validating your registration? It may have gone to the junk mail == but I definitely saw your registration in the back room. Let me know if you can get on. Your junk mail has probably expired now. let me know the status — I’m still working like crazy on this financial stuff, but please be patient and I promise we’ll get it worked out. Melody

  • RJ:

So How does one QUIT this website? I tried to delete my information and it won’t let me.

  • isa:

Ola! why is not ‘Codependent no more’ published in Brasil, in brasilian portugues?????? That’s a pity: it would be a success and- better- it would help soooo many people :)
If you need a contact in são paulo send me an email and I can try some publishers here (I do not work with that só it’s friendly proposal).
Otherwise tell me where to find it in brasilian portuguese so that I can buy it and present a few friends here. thanks isa.

    • Ola! Almost all my books are published in Spanish; some in Portugal. But the publishers take care of foreign rights — I don’t. If you go to Amazon dot com, they do a good job of listing many of the different languages the books are released in. Thanks for taking time to write. Melody

    • It is … at least the last time I checked. Have you looked at Amazon.com, at the very end of their list of my books are the ones in other languages. In fact, on the meditation pages (which we publish for free), we’re going to start posting meditations and excerpts from the Grief Club too in other languages … Ah, so much to do. Melody

  • I am Christopher Kennedy Lawford’s assistant. Mr. Lawford sent an email to the above address in February. (The content is below.) Please contact me if Ms. Beattie is interested in being a part of this amazing project (which includes people like Vice President Biden & the Dalai Lama). The letter mentioned is not attached but I would be happy to forward it on request.

    Dear Ms. Beattie:

My name is Christopher Kennedy Lawford. I am conducting a series of interviews in February, March & April 2011 for a book that will be a compendium of the knowledge of experts who treat addictive illness. Attached is a letter that explains who I am and introduces the project. I hope you will consider being part of this book. I am going to be in Minneapolis the evening of April 28 and possibly the morning of April 29 if you have time to meet with me. Otherwise, we can arrange a telephone interview. I look forward to discussing this with you in more detail and can be reached at 310-505-9940 or by email at christopherlawford@mac.com. You may also get in touch with my assistant, Sanora Bartels at 818-523-8864 or her email at sanora@gmail.com.

    warm regards,
    Chris Lawford
